Governments attempts to eliminate HINDRAF leader?

Posted by chaanakyan on April 8, 2008

Uthayakumar, legal adviser and one of the founders of Hindraf, who is being cruelly and unlawfully incarcerated by the Malaysian government is facing a health crisis while in detention. He is a diabetic, who has been denied his medication for over a month by the Kamunting camp authorities. His high sugar level, coupled with low potassium levels has made him very weak. He is now hospitalized at the Taiping General Hospital.

This is an unacceptable turn of events. The Prime Minister, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, with the Home Minister, Syed Hamid Albar, and, the Malaysian government must be held responsible and accountable for the reprehensible acts of both incarcerating an innocent man and not caring for his health. I urge all for you to swing into action to stop this brutal regime by contacting as many media members, politicians and members of the government.

HINDRAF Press Statement “Whom to Vote”

Posted by chaanakyan on January 31, 2008

HINDRAF

Kemayan Square 70200
Seremban N.Sembilan

PRESS STATEMENT 31st January 2008

RE: HINDRAF URGES SUPPORTERS NOT TO BE BLINDED WITH POLITICAL OPINIONS /OPPOSITION

HINDRAF CALLS FOR TALKS ON MALAYSIAN INDIANS’ FUTURE WITH POLITICAL PARTIES.

HINDRAF has always maintained it’s non-partisan stand and has always steered clear of party politics or align itself with any political party including the opposition

However HINDRAF cannot deny it has “Political Friends” both from within the ruling as well as opposition parties who have supported us in our cause for the protection of the ethnic minority Indian rights in Malaysia.

Hence taking into consideration of the upcoming general election, HINDRAF is now forced to advice the Malaysian Indians on “Whom to Vote”.

HINDRAF calls upon the Indian community not to blindly assume that by voting for the opposition political party in the next upcoming General Elections would solve the problems of oppression, suppression, marginalization and permanent colonization of the ethnic Indian community.

HINDRAF urges the political parties to:

a) Be transparent, fair and equitable in the distribution of seats to the Indian candidates both Parliamentary as well as State seats.

b) Make their manifesto extremely clear as to their commitment for advocating and implementing Indian rights should they be elected to lead the next Government. The 18 Point Demands made and submitted by HINDRAF to the Prime Minister are crystal clear on the needs and thirst of the Indian community to undo 50 years of Political and Socio Economic violations of the UMNO led Malaysian Government. These points should be the paramount consideration in respect to the Indian needs.

I call upon the interested political parties to immediately engage in talks on the above two crucial aspects as soon as possible so that we can advice the Malaysian Indian community “ Whom to Vote”.

Malaysian Indians have been cheated in the political arena for 50 years by the UMNO led BARISAN Government. HINDRAF’s leaders have made great sacrifices to relate this message to the Malaysian Indian community.

We will not betray the trust of Malaysian Indian community on HINDRAF’S leadership and will not advice the Malaysian Indians to place “a blind hope” on either BARISAN or the Opposition party unless we are satisfied the above two issues are adequately addressed.

HINDRAF is also happy to engage in dialogue with BARISAN subject to releasing the 5 HINDRAF leaders and accepting HINDRAF as a pressure group.

Re : SPECIAL BRANCH OFFICERS COLLUDING WITH DOCTORS TO PREMATURELY DISCHARGE UTHAYAKUMAR

ROYAL POLICE FORCE UNEASY WITH LARGE PRESENCE OF HINDRAF SUPPORTERS AT TAIPING HOSPITAL.

HINDRAF WOULD LAUNCH 1000 POLICE REPORTS AGAINST POLICE SHOULD UTHAYAKUMAR BE PREMATURELY DISCHARGED .

It has come to our attention the Police Special Branch is colluding and exerting pressure on doctors at Taiping Hospital to immediately discharge Uthayakumar from Hospital as they are “uneasy” with the large presence of HINDRAF supporters and steady flow of supporters throughout the day at Taiping Hospital.

25th and 26th January 2008 saw huge numbers of HINDRAF supporters holding candlelight vigil at the Hospital and hundreds of devotees held special prayers for Uthayakumar at most of the temples in Taiping vicinity.

We have received reliable insider information the Special branch officers are exerting pressure on Doctors to certify Uthayakumar is fit to be discharged despite doctors earlier informing Uthayakumar and his family members that he would be continuously monitored until he breaks his fast on Monday due to his health condition.

HINDRAF warns the Royal Police Force that we would have no choice but to lodge at least 1000 Police reports against the police should Uthayakumar be prematurely discharged and seek the urgent help of the International Red Cross to send a fact finding mission to Malaysia to assess the situation.

Ace student: MIC college cheated me
K Kabilan | Jan 19, 08 3:18pm

A MIC-run community college has been accused of misleading its students by not revealing that one of its popular degree programmes is not recognised by the government. A former top student of the Tafe College in Seremban said that the college’s failure to disclose the status of its programme have spoilt the future of many students.

Perak-born CS Nachimani told Malaysiakini that he was not told that the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (a government agency formerly known as National Accreditation Board or LAN) had not approved or accredited the Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics System Design Engineering) degree which he pursued at Tafe.

“When I enlisted to do my degree at Tafe College in 1998, I was told that the approval was pending.

“After that not once the students were told that the approval or accreditation was rejected by LAN,” said 29-year-old Nachimani who graduated in 2002. The electrical engineering programme which he did was a twinning programme with UK-based -Northumbria University.

He claimed that there were about 150 students in his batch who were all in the same situation now.”When I first joined Tafe and asked about the LAN approval, their responsewas that there would be no problems in getting the approval as it is a minister’s college,” he said.

The college, a brainchild of MIC president S Samy Vellu, is owned by the party, ostensibly to cater for the vocational educational needs of the
Indian community. Samy Vellu is also the works minister.College washes hands Nachimani, who aced his degree examinations, was always a top scorer in his class. His lecturers thought highly of him and predicted that he would go places in his careers.

He has even published two electrical engineering theories in a UK-based trade magazine, and has a patent registered for one of the theories.”But what’s the point. I am without a job now. If I had known the degree which I did with Tafe was not recognised by the government, I would have
surely gone to study elsewhere,” he said.

He added that his problems only started when he applied to join a major educational institution as a lecturer about two years ago.”Even since I graduated in 2002, I had lectured in smaller colleges to gain experience. And then a few years later I applied to one of the bigger ones and they told me that my degree was not recognised.”

He immediately approached his former college for clarification and was merely told off that they had failed to get the necessary approval.A brief email response to him from the college administrator R Murgesu in November 2004 just told Nachimani that the course was not recognised as the course did not require students to complete any part of their course in the main university, in this case the Northumbria University.

“It means that the government would not recognise the electrical engineering course which was offered by Tafe on behalf of Northumbria locally,”explained Nachimani.

No help from Samy Vellu

When contacted by Malaysiakini, a spokesperson for Tafe College told that a change in government policy meant that the college had to stop offering Northumbria’ s electrical engineering course.

At present the college is offering electrical engineering courses from Liverpool John Moore University, allowing students to complete two years
here and finish their final year of degree in Liverpool. However this course is also pending the approval and accreditation of LAN.”They are up to the same thing again. I doubt if they are telling students about the approval part,” said Nachimani.

When Nachimani pressed the college to solve his problem, he was directed to Samy Vellu.”I met Samy Vellu three times. He asked me to meet his aide, whom I had met 17 times. Still there is no solution to my problem,” he added. He said that Samy Vellu had forwarded a letter to another MIC-run college for him to be offered a job but nothing has been forthcoming. He was also advised by Samy Vellu’s aide to pursue his post-graduate study to overcome the non-recognition aspect of his degree.

Unfortunately for him even his post-graduate study which he did via correspondence in 2006 with an American university is not recognised by the government.”It’s a double blow for me. And to top it off, I am being hounded now for the repayment of my education loan,” he said. He is presently jobless as all potential employers want his degree to be approved by the government.

Loans being defaulted

Nachimani has obtained study loans from MIC study loan agency MIED for both his degree and post-graduate studies. Now the agency is after him for repayment. In fact he has been sent a lawyer’s notice warning him of bankruptcy proceedings if he failed to cough up total sum.

“I borrowed about RM37,000 for my studies and with interest the outstanding amount stands at RM52,582.60. Monthly repayment comes about RM620. How can I repay when I have no work?” he asked. He said that wherever he turned for help – from Tafe college to MIED, the
only response he got was to go to Samy Vellu.

“But he has been unable to help me,” said an exasperated Nachimani. Samy Vellu could not be contacted for comment today.
“I have been cheated by Tafe”. The college did not tell me and the other students the truth and they should correct their mistake.

“I want MIC, its president Samy Vellu and the college to come out with a solution for me. I am not going to be made a bankrupt for something which was not my mistake.”I want my life back,” said Nachimani.

Then Nurin ,Now Nini – get the fcuk out of our face Musa!!!

Posted by chaanakyan on January 11, 2008

Yesterday’s connectivity was the pits….from home to PJClub and finally to a StarBucks outlet and there was not time to surf blogosphere. And this morning we have 50,000 posters announcing the abduction of another little girl, NINI

Nini

The bitter taste have not left us because Nurin’s killer is still at large, lurking, leering and jeering at our Royal Police Force (has it occurred to anyone that it is about time the word “Royal” should be expunged. Downright insult to all our ex-Kings and our current King, if you ask me!).

Of course we Malaysian will do our best to help bring Nini back to her family. Is putting up posters sufficient? I say M O B I L I S E your whole force MUSA. Tell your guys for the next few days stop lurking in hidden areas to catch traffic offenders, or spend hours at mamak joints for free lunch, etc……get all your squad cars on the road, your four-wheelers into the off-road tracks….yes even your black-maria trucks…..get everyone of your elite Special Branch on the job…..even your helicopters……yes tell Othman Talib of Web Power to let you use the30 helicopters as goodwill otherwise no dice re the conflict-of-interest sale. Get your officers off their butt…..those spending hours questioning those who donated to Hindraf Enterprise.
And don’t forget, the water canon and tear-gas troops, the Blues that is…..this is the test of their mettle. It is child’s play banging on their plastic shields and shooting from a distance. Get them to do a man’s job for a change or they will turn sybaritic. What was it that Churchill said….never has so many done so little……blehhhhhh.***

*** one exception though….do not include the Police Band…we need them for the celebration when Nini is returned to us.

Tell us thru the MSM what you will be doing…..never mind if they exaggerate a bit…..if it is just to get Nini home safe. Tell us your action-plans and be quick about this…..the clock ticks and we want to make sure that Nini’s heart continues to tick.

Maybe these are not under your command….but use your powerful influence….get those RELA dickheads to do some work instead of bullying migrant workers. Most of the time these RELAX. Anyone believe me when I volunteer that the quality of your people reflects the quality of your organization? Well that is another story for another day.

Musa, I know it is tougher to go after an unseen abductor than sitting-duck -marchers, but you got to try, buddy. May the Force be with you….

Meanwhile we wait anxiously and with a prayer for her safe return.

Don’t give the abductor the opportunity that Nurin’s killer is saying to your

POLICE FORCE, this….

fingure.jpg

Shucks, bit too early for a single…..but let’s see how things develop….maybe we have a celebration if there are some breaking news…..Musa…..I love to celebrate, I’d like you to know…..but with performers.

A plot for Racial violence by UMNO ?

Posted by chaanakyan on January 10, 2008

There was a written directive purportedly signed by party secretary-general Radzi Sheikh Ahmad asking them to carry out a ‘racial issue action plan.’

Not sure what is the letter really about but makes one wonder what are those action plans. (mejayakan “ISU PERKAUMAN”)? What do they actually planned to do?

According to news, PAS Youth Chief Salahuddin Ayub filed a police report in Kuala Lumpur over the letter.

UMNO Memo

Also could read more of it at Malaysiakini
